· Formation of the cortex and texture on the surface layer/top layer: Create a skin with the desired color, gloss, hand feel, and physical properties. This is the “face” of synthetic leather. Use PU or PVC resin with good film-forming properties, combined with color paste and additives. Obtain a flat film surface through direct roll coating or reverse coating (reverse roll) on release paper, which is the most widely used process.
· Printing/color matching to imitate real leather textures: Print on the colored surface to imitate the pores and textures of real leather such as cows, sheep, and crocodiles. Use printing paste (color paste). Achieved through gravure printing (steel roll or silicone roll), with high precision requirements.
· Color fixing and additional functions of the top layer/protective layer: Fix the printed pattern and provide hand feel, scratch resistance, hydrolysis resistance, etc. Use transparent PU or acrylic resin, and add hand feel agents, cross-linking agents, etc. Mostly use roll coating or spraying.
· Post-treatment (optional) to enhance the sense of quality: Enhance the sense of reality through mechanical treatment. Such as polishing, wrinkling, softening by tumbling, etc., to make the leather surface produce natural gloss changes and soft touch.
